September Farm ReportThe temperature is dropping, the leaves are changing colors and pumpkin spice is the flavor of the day! As we move into the season, we’ve got new crops planted, and new activities planned. Here’s what happened in September. We’re Kicking Off Fall We love all the seasons, but fall is special. So, it won’t surprise anyone that we’re kicking off fall with a celebration at our Farmers Market. Join us 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 for pictures in our pumpkin patch, a bounce house, farm animals farm fresh produce, artisanal food and plenty of fun. Attendees will also be able to play our Farm Game which is accompanied by fun prizes like packets of seeds, pumpkins from the pumpkin patch and snacks to feed our animals. Tour Our Village Farm Have you participated in one of our Meet the Farm Tours? You should. What could be better than taking a short tour of our farm followed by sampling some of the seasonal produce we grow. The next tours take place 10 to 11 a.m. Saturdays, Oct. 26, Nov. 23 and Dec. 28. What’s Growing On? We transplanted more fall crops this month. Soon we’ll have plenty of leafy greens such as kale, collards and mustards available at the farmers market. We’ve also got arugula and Hakurei turnips growing in our tunnels. We can’t wait to harvest them for your dining pleasure!
