Where Can You Help OutRun Hunger? Anywhere!

Where Can You Help OutRun Hunger? Anywhere!

Where can you participate in this year’s OutRun Hunger 5K Family Walk and Run? Anywhere you want to!

Registration has opened for the now virtual event scheduled to take place Sept. 25-30. Participants can choose from a 10K, 5K or kid 1-mile fun run. Fees are $10 per person per race plus a $2 registration fee. That $10 provides 18 meals for neighbors in need.

“We made the decision to do a virtual run because it allows for a safer and more flexible run schedule for our supporters,” said Stacey Williams, development director for East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry, which the race benefits. “Runners can run or walk any time they want between Sept. 25 and 30. The cost of this year’s run decreased, as well, because we are aware that many of our supporters have been affected by job insecurities during the pandemic.”

That means you can jog through your neighborhood, walk on your treadmill or even hang out on your couch and still help our favorite non-profit provide assistance to families and individuals during times of temporary financial crisis.

There will even be T-shirts (sign up by Sept. 14 to ensure you get one) and prizes. Runners must map their routes and log their times. You can even snap a picture of yourself to post on the East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry Facebook page.

Last year, the event raised $20,000 for East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry. This year, the organization hopes to raise $10,000.

The organization served 25,000 people from mid-March until the end of May and continues to serve hundreds of families each month.

Sign up yourself, your family, your friends and neighbors. If you are interested in sponsoring the run, you can do that too. What are you waiting for?
