OutRunning Hunger to the Tune of $20,000

We hoped to raise $15,000 to help local families in need through our annual OutRun Hunger 5k Family Walk/Run. With your help, we breezed right past it raising $20,000 for East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry.

This is the second year we have topped our fundraising goal and we couldn’t have done it without the generous support of the Fort Bend community and our big-hearted sponsors.

Registered runners numbered a whopping 386 (up from 285 last year) adults and kids. We also had 40 volunteers and 50 sponsors. Many, many more came out to cheer our athletes on.

The top three male and female finishers received awards. Kids received completion ribbons for participation in a separate Kids Run.

The money raised will be used by East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry to provide food and financial assistance to children, families and seniors. Last year, the organization served 23,548 adults and 19,476 children.

The event attracted 50 sponsors including platinum sponsors Roots magazine, the East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry Board of Directors and PACE Mechanical. Gold sponsors included Children’s Lighthouse, Newmark Homes and Earthcare Management.

We’d also like to thank Newmark Homes for underwriting the cost of the medals and ribbons and Messina Hof for providing wine at the finish line.

It was an amazing day. Thank you to everyone who came out. We’ll see you next year!
